What is Habitat for porcupinity?

Habitat for porcupinity is a local, non-profit, unfaith-based organization working for a world where every porcupine has a safe and decent place to live. Our mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.

Habitat for porcupinity was founded in July 4th 2009, consists of over 2 volunteers and no affiliate organizations from coast to coast, and is a member of Habitat for Animality which spans many countries, has built many homes, and is now building a new home every 3 sec.

Historical background

Habitat for porcupinity was founded recently, by Martin and me. The program hasn’t developed yet from the concept of "partnership housing", but it will, where those in need of adequate shelter work side by side with volunteers from all walks of life to build simple, decent houses.

How does Habitat for Porcupinity work?

Through volunteer labour, efficient management and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable, no-interest mortgages. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving fund, which is used to build more houses.

Habitat for Porcupinity is not a give-away program. In addition to mortgage payments, each homeowner invests hundreds of hours of their own labour, called "funny equity", into the building of their house and the houses of others.

Who qualifies for a home?

The four criteria to qualify for a Habitat home are(1) be a porcupine (2) need for affordable housing, (3) ability to repay a Habitat mortgage and (4) willingness to partner with Habitat.

Habitat for Porcupines
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

There was a porcupine, walking down the street to find a place for the night. Did he find a place? No.. why not? because no one likes a porcupine in his house. He was not cute, he was not lovely, he was not even safe. He might have harmed you as well. With his quills he could shoot you and knock you down. Those shots could knock you down at least for one or two weeks. Some even say that they are poisoned and they can cause you death. So there was a porcupine walking down the street , without money to rent a room in a hotel. Even if he had money they wouldn’t accept him because they usually have a big sign, written no animals. Some thaught maybe he could go to a bar and enjoy the night with girls but he didn’t go there either because they usually ask for ID and he didn’t have one. There you go, he was walking down the street and yelling at people, yelling at shadows, yelling at pictures because he had no place to go. He was mad. Mad at anyone and every thing. I don’t like porcupines, but I believe that they should have some where to go. They should have something else to do instead of walking down the street.

Till the end of the street
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Walk with me to the end of the street,
Grab my hand and smile,
We are together till the end of the street.
Then you will turn right,
And I will turn left.
Then you will find other boys to date,
And I will follow you jealously in my poems.
Then you will become a princess in a fairy tale,
And I will be a kid following you through the books.
Then you will be a window to the sea,
And I will sink in your eyes.
Then you will be spring
you will be summer
you will be fall
you will be winter,
And I will be older
older
older
....
So, walk with me to the end of the street.
Grab my hand and smile.
